JOB TITLE: Senior Tractor/Trailer/Reefer Technician

SUMMARY
Serves as shop technical expert for tractors/trailers/reefers and is responsible for the tractor/trailer/reefer diagnostic triage process while also repairing and maintaining tractor, trailer and/or refrigeration equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Works alongside other members of the team to mentor, share knowledge, give assistance and lead by example.
- Services/inspects tractors and trailers/reefers and determines defects and potential problems.
- Changes brakes, seals, and bearings and troubleshoots electrical problems as well as refrigeration issues.
- Diagnoses and repairs problems in all systems on the tractor and trailer/reefer unit.
- Road tests equipment and diagnoses drivability complaints.
- Participates in maintenance and cleanliness of premises and completing tasks efficiently, effectively and safely.
- Receives/carries out instructions.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read, write, talk, see and hear.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. as required.
- Advanced knowledge of air, electrical, driver train, steering, mobile refrigeration, suspension, and engine systems.
- Advanced knowledge and proficient use of a computer and computer programs.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 3 years related experience and/or training; or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Diesel Technology; 1 year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid CDL Class A driver's license as required by supervisor and/or location.
EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 608 and 609 within 90 days of hire date.
Forklift Certification
DOT Brake Certified
WORK ENVIRONMENT & OTHER
The nature of the environment is one in which the employee may come in contact with outside weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemical, extreme cold or extreme heat and excessive noise levels.
Safety shoes (steel toe or composite) required.
Must have own tools.
